Assistant brewer needed
Posted by Hop Hooligans on
Here at Hop Hooligans, we require some more hands. We're constantly expanding our production and we will require more helping hands in the building. This is a very hands-on role that does not require previous industry experience. A love of juicy, hoppy beers is essential. Previous homebrewing experience is always appreciated but not mandatory. On a day to day basis, the tasks will include mashing in, cleaning the fermentation vessel to be filled, shoveling out the spent malt, cleaning the brewhouse at the end of the day and sometimes assisting with the canning line. Full training will be provided and over time...
Sourpuss: Blackcurrant. Our grumpiest puss yet.

It might not have the jolliest of attitudes, but we really love our Sourpuss. Each time we feed it a different fruit it gets more and more cranky, but hungrier at the same time. After blackberries and raspberries, we chose another fruit of the season: blackcurrants. Let’s talk about this latest version a bit more. Berliner Weisses aren’t just unfiltered wheat beers. Although the name of the style might fool you, this isn’t a local take on the traditional German wheat ale. So settle your banana-inducing esters craving elsewhere. As some might be surprised at first, Berliner Weisse is a...
Shady Sushi, but nothing’s fishy about it

There’s no surprise that we’ll keep putting out more and more (and more!) IPAs, but we’ll always make sure to brew progressively different and interesting ones. This one is a bit of a repeat, in a sense, but not exactly. First of all, we must solemnly declare our love for Sorachi Ace hops. Stand by for the Japanese anthem. We loved the mild herbal, dill-like twist it brought to Royal Execution, even if dry-hopping an ESB might’ve seemed like a big no-no. Still, there wasn’t a lot used there. The obvious next step: let’s abuse that hop, somehow! You might’ve...
Big news!

We’ve been keeping this under wraps for quite some time, but it seems we’re already “leaking” information. Probably out of excitement (wink-wink). Time to come clean. We’re switching to cans! As with any significant change in an operation, you can imagine there’s a big WHY floating about. We’re doing this because we respect and love what we put out to the people. And that’s good craft beer that can always be better. We want people to enjoy our beer as fresh as possible. And packaging is a really important part of all this. A good canning line will help us finally...
Time. Imperial Stout aged on Chocolate, Coffee and Vanilla

First things first: this is indeed an homage/tribute, considering the month that we’re in. So let’s respectfully get that out of the way. So, we wanted to go big. We decided on 11% alcohol, and no mental (or physical) brakes when it came to adding adjuncts. Double mash, so a bit more than 14 hours of work, long and tedious because we also added a lot of oat flakes (around 20% of the whole malt bill). Lots of roasted and crystal malts, that goes without saying. The most important thing that we were looking for was getting a lot of...
